The Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre is dedicated to providing an exciting and memorable guest experience while ensuring the safety and security of all guests. The following guidelines provide information and policies/rules for attending any Thunderbird Sports Centre event. These policies apply to all guests. Guests who violate any of the policies will be escorted by security out of the arena.  Additionally, Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre management reserves the right to suspend entry into the facility & ticket privileges for guests who do not comply with these event policies.

There is one (1) Guest Services Center in the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre. The center is located at the main entrance on Wesbrook Mall. It is staffed with knowledgeable guest services representatives who will assist you with your questions and concerns.

Arena Policies

General Info

TO ENSURE A SAFE & COMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT, THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE NOT PERMITTED INSIDE THE VENUE:

  • ALCOHOL & ILLEGAL DRUGS
  • BACKPACKS & LARGE BAGS
  • BANNERS & SIGNS (including some flags & flagpoles)
  • BOTTLES, CANS, COOLERS & THERMOSES
  • CAMERAS & RECORDING DEVICES
  • FIREWORKS & DANGEROUS ITEMS
  • FOOD & BEVERAGE
  • HORNS, NOISE MAKERS & LASER POINTERS
  • KNIVES & UNSAFE PERSONAL ACCESSORIES
  • PETS & ANIMALS
  • SPRAY CANS & AEROSOLS
  • WEAPONS & FIREARMS
  • ALL OTHER ITEMS DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE FOR ENTRY

Banners and Signs

Banners and signs are allowed in the arena for some events. However, they may not be hung or fastened or taped anywhere in Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.

Camera Policy

Failure to comply with Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre Camera Policy will result in the film/memory stick being confiscated. The following are general rules of camera use and are subject to change at any time based on a specific request from the attraction or promoter:

Sporting Events

Non-flash, still cameras of any type may be used to take pictures of sporting events or events where house lights are illuminated during a performance. Any tripod or other photography equipment may not be used or placed in any area of the building without building issued media credentials.

Concerts and Other Events
Cameras with a detachable lens or lens of more than two inches are prohibited from all Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre concerts. The use of flash photography is also prohibited. The event producer reserves the right to deny camera use at any time before or during the event and to prohibit the use of any camera that is deemed unacceptable.

Video Recorders or Digital Cameras
Video recorders or digital cameras with recording capabilities are prohibited at any time during an event. Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre reserves the right to examine and prohibit use of any camera that staff deem unacceptable. Tape recorders are not allowed at any time.

Cellular Phones and Pagers

The use of cellular phones and pagers is permitted provided they do not interfere with other guests' enjoyment of the event.

Exit and Re-Entry

There is no re-entry to the arena.

Food and Beverages / Bottles and Cans

Guests are not permitted to bring any outside food or beverages into Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre. Containers including bottles, cans, thermos bottles and plastic coolers are not permitted for the safety and protection of our guests.

Beer and alcohol sale during sporting events: With 20 minutes left in the game all concourse beer and alcohol sales will end.

Beer and alcohol sale during concerts and other events: Sales end one (1) hour from the scheduled end of the event. This is subject to change at any time based on a specific request from the artist or promoter.

Gate Opening Times

Gates open one (1) hour prior to all events. There may be occasional gate opening time changes for special circumstances.

Guest Conduct

Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre is committed to providing a fun, family atmosphere in the arena. Guests using foul language or appearing to be in an intoxicated condition will be ejected from the arena. Guests wearing obscene or indecent clothing will be denied entry. For the comfort and enjoyment of our guests, noisemakers of any type (e.g., air horns, cow bells, etc.) are prohibited. The use of laser pointers is strictly prohibited and will result in ejection. If someone is interfering with your enjoyment of the event, please contact Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre personnel or security staff.

Restrictions

In the interest of guest safety and enjoyment Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre reserves the right to prevent certain items from being carried into the arena. These include, but are not limited to, weapons or anything else that can be used as dangerous projectiles. Similarly, other items that may jeopardize the safety or viewing/listening enjoyment of the guests may be prohibited.

Resale of Arena Tickets

To protect your investment it is recommended that you purchase tickets only through authorized outlets, such as the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre Box Office (on event day only) or Ticketmaster (604-280-4444 or www.ticketmaster.ca.) Tickets purchased through other channels may be lost, stolen or counterfeit. Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre does not assume any responsibility for replacement or reimbursement of any such tickets.

Smoking

Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre is a smoke-free building. Smoking anywhere in the building is strictly prohibited.
