Film Shoots:
Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre is ideal for film shoots. Our staff is very well experienced in meetings the needs of short and long term film shoots. Please contact the event manager at 604 822 4176 to book a film shoot.
Event Rental
Each event is unique and has its own specific requirements. Management of Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre will accommodate all your needs to suit your event.

Rental rates will vary based on capacity and specific event requirements.
Procedure for Booking
- Obtain Rental Estimate cost using our on-line cost calculator in this website
- Please call our event manager at 604 822 4176 to book an event.
- The booking manager will discuss the feasibility of booking your event after obtaining details of the event from the organizer.
- A non refundable deposit of $ 6,000 plus GST is required to hold the venue for a minimum of 12 weeks in advance of the event. The deposit will be applied to the rental rate.
Challenging hold
Initial client will be given 48 hours to pay the full rent. If the challenge is not met, a full rent is required within 24 hours from the client challenging the hold.
Event protection policy
If an event is similar to an event that is already booked, Management reserves the right to protect an event that is already booked on either side if a similar event is competing in a specialized and narrow market
License agreement
A legal and binding agreement must be signed between the venue and an authorized event organizer a minimum of 10 weeks prior to the event move in date.
Exclusive Partners
Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre has exclusive agreements with the following partners:
- Nasco Staffing Solutions – Providing all ushers, cleaning and production related labour services.
- Sensor Security – Provides security needs inside the arena
- Centerplate – Provides food and beverage services for artists and crew and concession services. For info on Centerplate services contact Rob Williams at 604 827 5943 or cell # 604 710 694
- TicketMaster – Provides ticket selling system and management of box office for all events at the arena
Operational Costs
Depend on the capacity, layout and specific requirements of the event. Examples of costs include staging, conversion, pipe and drape, building staff operations and utilities
Production costs
Include electricians, riggers and any other production labour.
Other Costs
Other costs include food and beverage for crew and artist, furniture for dressing rooms, telephones etc. Inquire about our house package that includes all such costs
An estimate is available for Operational, Production and Other costs after initial meeting.
Production Manager
Event organizer must provide their own Production Manager who is fully knowledgeable in technical requirements such as staging, rigging, lighting etc. This person will be the main contact with the buildings Event Manager.
